REDS - The Truth of Impermanence LP
Originally formed in 2004, REDS grew out of friendships within NYC’s close knit DIY hardcore scene. REDS frequented the cozy basements of North Six and The Knitting Factory while the hip bands of the time played the bigger rooms upstairs. In the two years of the band’s initial run REDS played dozens of local shows, and made several trips up and down the east coast - playing frequently with friends in Gospel, Hot Cross, Ampere, Funeral Diner, Welcome the Plague Year , and other scene stalwarts of the 00’s DIY scene. By the time they disbanded in 2006, REDS had released a three song demo and an LP titled “is:means” - both recorded by Josh Jukabowski of Neil Perry, Joshua Fit For Battle, and Hot Cross. The seeds for the second life of REDS were planted in 2020, when Jean Scene Records asked to release “is:means” as a cassette. Soon the band played their first reunited show in Brooklyn at East Williamsburg Econo Lodge , and played numerous local and regional shows since. In February of 2025, REDS went into Permanent Hearing Damage Studio to record “The Truth of Impermanence” - 9 new songs that were engineered and mixed by Steve Roche (Saetia) and mastered by Will Killingsworth (Orchid/Ampere) at Dead Air Studios.
