CATHARSIS - Hope Against Hope LP
One of the legendary underground hardcore bands of the 1990s is back with seven songs that combine d-beat, double bass, dynamic buildups, and politicized lyricism with tons of dark atmosphere. Foundation Vinyl calls it "Bleakly menacing, structurally ambitious, crust-tinged metallic hardcore.” Razorblades & Aspirin says “Catharsis perfects the musical vision of Amebix, Tragedy, and Integrity layered over the lyrical focus of Crass.” The Antifascist Black Metal Network says "They are an inspiration to us and a great example of what we stand for and what we’d like antifascist metal to become: anticapitalist, in opposition to the commercial structures of the music business, free, horizontally organized, unbound, unleashed.” Catharsis includes members of Sect, Undying, Trial, Paint It Black, Three Inches of Blood, and Requiem, among other bands. This recording features backing vocals from the singers of Poland's Next Victim, Brazil's Point of No Return, and North Carolina's own Scarecrow and Vittna.
